R.L. Maizes’ stories have appeared or are forthcoming in Bellevue Literary Review, The Barcelona Review, Blackbird, Slice, The MacGuffin, and other literary magazines. She has received Honorable Mention in Glimmer Train’s Fiction Open Contest and won Slice Magazine’s 2012 Spring Spotlight Competition. Her essays have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Spirituality & Health, and other national publications. She recently completed a collection of short stories.

In today’s U.S. climate of anti-trans rhetoric and policy, and the killing of trans bodies and minds, it is imperative that as a literary magazine, we commit to publishing a global range of trans writers, with no attempt at policing what trans looks and sounds like.
